Guatape

We finally bought a plane ticket for the Caribbean, so with limited time remaining in the area, we headed for the touristy town of Guatape, located on a man-made lake about 1.5 hours outside of Medellin. It’s a stunningly beautiful location.

The days are gorgeous, but the clouds always creep in towards sunset. I don’t consider this a negative though, as the evening thunder storms are incredible. You just have to make sure you do your grocery shopping early..

While our hostel room is brand new and extremely comfortable, the guests have added a certain “frat” color to the place. I guess I have a little more tolerance for this than Sheena, but it does tend to irritate after hours of loud movies.. What is it about a hostel full of shirtless citizens of the English-speaking-nations-of-the-world that grinds so easily? Probably that we can understand everything they are saying. Still, realizing that these people aren’t as inconsiderate as they first appeared has softened our irritation. Last night I went out to watch the end of one of those loud movies, only to find two guys sleeping on the bean bags. I quietly turned the volume off and crept back to bed, to listen to the rain beat our window.
