Gabriel García Márquez

“It always amuses me that the biggest praise for my work comes for the imagination, while the truth is that there’s not a single line in all my work that does not have a basis in reality. The problem is that Caribbean reality resembles the wildest imagination.”

Márquez passed away last Thursday.  He is, and likely will always be my favorite Latin American author.  I think I have read One Hundred Years of Solitude 5 or 6 times… Right now, authors and Latin American dignitaries are filling the television screens with their recollections of Márquez.  While sifting through some of the coverage I found this interview.  Please enjoy reading it with me!
